The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, has ordered an investigation into a viral video showing some police officers in Ibadan, Oyo State, harassing a 25-year-old female suspect. The Police officers met the lady, Towobola in the home of a suspected kidnapper and armed robber when they went to arrest him. The policemen after taking the kidnap suspect away, faced Towobola, handcuffed her and accused her of sleeping with the alleged kidnapper. One of the police officers, who identified himself as Wyclef, brought out his phone and started to record the lady. The policeman pushed her to the floor while she attempted to cover her face while he was recording. He then asked what she was doing with the suspected criminal, how they met, what business he told her he was into and subsequently asked her if she was a virgin and how many men she had slept with. Senator Godswill Akpabio has denied accusing members of the National Assembly of collecting 60 percent of the contracts at the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC). The Minister for Niger Delta Affairs, Godswill Akpabio, in a letter read on the floor of the House during Plenary by the Speaker on Thursday said the only reference he made to 60 percent during his presentation before the NDDC committee on Monday was in response to a question by a member of the committee. Son of a woman who is fighting coronavirus and kept in isolation, climbs up the side of the hospital building to watch his mother through her hospital room window to be with hr while she suffered from coronavirus. 30-year-old man, Jihad Al-Suwaiti, was not allowed to visit his mother Rasma Salema in person after she tested positive for coronavirus and was admitted to a hospital in Hebron, in the West Bank. To be able to see his mother while she battles the coronavirus, Jihad used a drainpipe and another window ledge to climb up the hospital building so he could sit with his mother, who also had leukaemia, behind the safety of her window. The House of Representatives is probing an alleged N100 billion fraud in the North-East Development Commission (NEDC). This is coming amidst the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC) fraud allegations, which has revealed mismanagement of N81.5 billion. Ndudi Elumelu, the minority leader of the house moved the motion, alleging that the sum of N100 billion given to the commission by the federal government, had “vanished”. Elumelu while moving the motion, accused Managing Director of the NEDC, Mohammed Goni Alkali of awarding non-existent contracts. He said; “The N100 billion so far disbursed to the commission by the federal government is said to have vanished under a year without any visible impact on the refugees nor any infrastructural development credited to the name of the commission in the whole of the north-east.
