Nigerian customs officer dies after being stung by bees while on duty

A senior officer of the Nigeria Customs Service has died after he was stung by a swarm of bees while on patrol duty. Abba Abubakar, an officer operating at the Seme customs command, along Ashipa axis of Badagry, Lagos, met his untimely death Tuesday after he was stung by the bees. Presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, Atiku Abubakar, did not travel to the United States as Senate President Bukola Saraki’s aide. It has been revealed The All Progressives Congress had said Atiku was finally allowed to travel to the US because he posed as an aide to Saraki. Speaking on AIT’s  Kakaaki  programme on Wednesday, Saraki, who is the Director-General, Atiku Abubakar Campaign Organisation, described the allegation as nonsensical. Police arrest three fake INEC staff in Lagos state

Three fake INEC staffs have been arrested by the Lagos State Police Command for impersonating workers of the electoral commission. This was made known in a statement on Wednesday by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, CSP Chike Oti, who said the force acted on a complaint from the Deputy Director of INEC, Shomolu LGA, Mrs Akinwunmi S.O., on January 22, 2019, that some persons at Shop no.33, Aluta Plaza, Federal College of Education, Akoka, were impersonating INEC workers and recruiting ad-hoc staff. According to Oti, the state Commissioner of Police, CP Edgal Imohimi, directed the Pedro Police Station DPO to infiltrate the camp of the culprits with his undercover operatives. The operatives did as directed, leading to the arrest of the suspects, namely: Kaiyewu Folahan, Akintunde Ibukun and Azeez Kazeem. Former Kwara Governor, Femi David Lasisi Bamigboye, reportedly died in Lagos on Friday after a brief illness. The burial date of the late Former Kwara Governor, will be announced later as disclosed by a close family source. Before his death, Brigadier General Femi David Lasisi Bamigboye was the first Military Governor of Kwara State from May 1967 to July 1975, after it had been divided from the old Northern Region during the military regime of General Yakubu Gowon. He is an Igbomina man from Omu Aran, Irepodun local government area. Born 7 December 1940, he was succeeded by late Ibrahim Taiwo, preceded by Hassan Katsina His younger brother is Theophilus Bamigboye, another military ruler turned politician. In 1968 he created the Kwara State Ministry of Education, with a department to handle Scholarship/Bursary matters. A 14-year-old barber’s daughter, Miss. Gloria Ajala yesterday, emerged the One-day Lagos Governor after winning the 2018 Spelling Bee competition. She is a secondary school 3 student of Lafiaji Senior High School, Lagos Island and she would perform the pseudo-role of the governor of the state at a yet- to- be announced date before the end of this year alongside his cabinet members. She made this known in a series of tweets where she called the project a wrong priority which is bound to fail. She wrote; “I actually believed that at some point the FG would have “advised itself” & known that the so called “National Carrier project” IS A WASTE. Many people dead as heavy rainfall hits Katsina

Many people have been feared dead as heavy rainfall hits Katsina and swept away homes and properties in the Jibia area of the State Unconfirmed reports puts the death so far at 25 with many people still missing and unaccounted for. About 80 homes and many animals are equally lost. The rainfall accompanied with heavy winds started at about 11pm last night and lasted till 3am this morning have rendered so many homeless. Most affected areas are those living in Unguwar Kwa-kwa, Unguwar Mai Kwari, Tudun Takari both the new and old setllements as well as Dan Tudu. Eye witnesses say corpses are being recovered from a near by water reservoir in neighbouring Niger Republic and fallen buildings. In Unguwar Mai Kwari alone we recovered 10 bodies and have buried them accordingly, a source who was assisting in a humanitarian efforts confided in Daily Trust.
